A somber atmosphere blankets the community following a tragic incident on Williams Mill Road that resulted in a fatality. Alcoa Police Department shared news of the fatal collision that occurred on the evening of October 24. First responders from the Alcoa Police Department, the Alcoa Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:51 p.m.

Upon their arrival, they discovered Jesse Malone, a 31-year-old resident of Maryville, who was critically injured in the crash, after being unresponsive in his Black Honda Pilot. Consequently, his vehicle caught fire, a spectacle that first responders encountered among the wreckage. He was transported to Blount Memorial Hospital despite receiving aid on site, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities also found Ronald Weaver, 33, from the same town, at the wheel of a White Ford Van involved in the crash. According to the reports, Weaver had earlier sideswiped another vehicle on Old Knoxville Highway at Pellissippi Parkway before fleeing at a high rate of speed. Then, entering Williams Mill Road, he failed to stay in his lane around a blind curve, leading to the fatal collision with Malone.

Despite the fiery aftermath, Weaver refused medical treatment on multiple occasions when offered at the scene. Instead, he was detained and is facing a slew of charges, including vehicular homicide and DUI, as indicated by the Alcoa Police Department's social media update. Shortly thereafter, Weaver was taken to UT Medical Center for an obligatory medical evaluation while being processed at the Blount County Intake Center.

The Alcoa Police Department's fatal crash investigation team is scrutinizing the crash circumstances. They urge anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation. Witnesses or individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact the department by calling 865-981-4111 and requesting a discussion with Sergeant Smiley.
