The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated North Wilmington Station on the Haverhill Commuter Rail Line. Although the station has been in use since June 30, the event marked the official completion of upgrades designed to improve safety, accessibility, and service, according to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

The project relocated the platform to prevent trains from blocking the busy Middlesex Avenue crossing and added a new walkway, along with modern features such as ramps, a canopy, and enhanced security. Transportation Secretary and CEO Monica Tibbits-Nutt said, "Those investments are delivering real results. North Wilmington Station is now fully accessible, with level boarding platforms, ramps, and ADA-compliant communication technology that remove barriers and opens the doors of public transit to everyone in our community," as reported by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

At the ribbon-cutting for the renovated North Wilmington Station, MBTA General Manager and CEO Phillip Eng said, "Today we celebrated with the community knowing just how vital a fully accessible station with all the modern amenities and security features is to all of our riders." State Senator Barry Finegold, Wilmington Select Board Chair Frank J. West, Sr., and other officials recognized the station’s improvements, while Dave Walker, Keolis Vice President of Service Delivery, stated, "I’d like to thank all of our crews who worked quickly and safely to build the platform and make this project a success," as mentioned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
