Farragut's local athletes and casual racket sports enthusiasts will have to take a brief pause from their serves and volleys at McFee Park. Starting tomorrow, the tennis/pickleball courts at the park will be out of commission for restriping. The courts are set for a bit of a makeover and, once they reopen, will be transformed into spaces solely dedicated to tennis, the Town of Farragut announced.
Pickleball players can look forward to new facilities soon. The town is building nine dedicated courts at Mayor Bob Leonard Park, with construction expected to finish by early December, weather permitting, according to an official statement from the Town of Farragut.
Residents are encouraged to follow Farragut Parks & Rec on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. The department will announce the reopening of the McFee Park tennis courts and the opening of the new pickleball courts at Mayor Bob Leonard Park through its social media channels.
"Every effort was made to keep McFee Park pickleball courts open for as long as possible, but the restriping needs to be completed during warmer weather," said the Town of Farragut. Those who have been frequenting these courts are asked for a little patience and understanding since the respite from racket sports leisure is necessary to ensure better quality courts for the future plays. The Town also extends its apologies for any disruptions this restriping may cause in the interim.
