The streets of Memphis are marginally safer today following the arrest of Ser Pogue, described by local authorities as a repeat violent offender. In a social media update that eschewed typical public relations gloss, the Memphis Police Department announced the capture as part of its ongoing efforts to clamp down on violent crime through the Aggravated Assault Initiative.
The department's post on October 15th credited the Multi-Agency Gang Unit for locating and arresting Pogue, labeling him an Aggravated Assault Prolific Offender. In this latest run-in with the law, Pogue faces aggravated robbery charges. According to the MPD, their focus on individuals with violent histories, such as Pogue, is proving fruitful in their quest to build a "Stronger, Safer Memphis."
Pogue's arrest, however, is not an isolated event but a piece of a broader strategy by the MPD to aggressively pursue aggravated assault perpetrators. With the initiative starting earlier this year, it represents a concerted effort by law enforcement to deter crime through targeted actions against known offenders.
