In a case that has drawn attention to the severity of child sex offenses, 45-year-old Randall Medders has been sentenced to 110 years in prison. The judgment was handed down in the Superior Court in Yuma County on October 28, as detailed by FOX 10 Phoenix. Medders had previously been arrested in February 2024, when Yuma police acted upon a report of a sexual offense involving a 12-year-old child that occurred in May 2022.
After a prolonged period in custody with a bond set at $500,000, Medders was found guilty on August 28 for a series of charges related to child molestation and aggravated assault with sexual motivation. Specifically, the counts included five charges of molesting a child, five charges of sex abuse, and ten counts of aggravated assault, as reported by Yahoo News.
The initial tip-off to police came in May 2022, but it wasn't until nearly two years later that probable cause was found to arrest Medders. Throughout this duration, the Yuma Police Department thoroughly investigated the allegations that finally led to Medders' conviction.
