Earlier in the day, Mooresville residents experienced traffic disruptions due to a gas leak that temporarily closed a section of W. Plaza Drive. The Mooresville Police Department and Mooresville Fire-Rescue responded to the area near Randy Marion, advising the public to avoid the section between Talbert Road and US 21. After several hours of work, emergency crews successfully secured the site.
The Town of Mooresville later announced on Facebook that all affected roads and businesses had reopened. Traffic lanes previously blocked by safety cones and emergency vehicles were cleared, allowing normal travel to resume.
The gas leak prompted a coordinated response from fire and police departments, whose swift actions prevented potential harm to the public. The cause of the leak has not yet been released.
