The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is organizing a collaborative event in Gresham aimed at strengthening connections between law enforcement and the community. Today, MCSO and the Gresham Police Department will partner with local faith leaders and residents for the Faith & Blue event. This initiative is designed to support ongoing efforts to build trust, respect, and mutual understanding between officers and the communities they serve.
The event, scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Gresham Arts Plaza, will provide a platform not only for conversation but also for community members to ask questions, learn about ongoing safety efforts, and interact directly with law enforcement. MCSO deputies and Gresham Police officers will be on-site, with MCSO aiming to use the event as a step toward strengthening future partnerships. This local effort is part of the national Faith & Blue initiative, which focuses on building stronger community relationships through collaboration and open dialogue.
According to a statement from the MCSO released ahead of the meeting, the event's agenda goes beyond typical law enforcement protocols. "These events remind us that public safety is not only about enforcing laws, but also about empathy, collaboration, and shared values," said Multnomah County Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell. With activities such as live music and light snacks on offer, the event promises to be a family-friendly venue for constructive community-law enforcement interfacing.
Interested individuals looking for more information on this collaborative effort can find it on the Faith & Blue website. MCSO has credited the Gresham Police Department's community outreach division with leading the charge for this event.
