Dr. Phillips Charities is ushering in a new era of nightlife with the introduction of Walter's Tavern, set to occupy a space inside the historic Great Southern Box Company Food Hall at The Packing District. In an effort to breathe new life into the area, the 3,800 square foot bar will feature an array of craft cocktails, live entertainment, and a refined sports-viewing experience. Pine Street Hospitality, the group sparking change in downtown Orlando with venues like Bullitt Bar and McQueens Social Lounge, is leading the transformation.
Named after Walter Simmons Phillips, the youngest son of the citrus magnate Dr. P. Phillips, the tavern is designed to be a community hub where locals and outsiders alike can come together. With its roots steeped in love for aviation and the great outdoors, Walter's Tavern aims to capture the essence of its namesake. "This venue is more than just a bar," Zack Zeisloft, who is set to manage the venue, told Bungalower. "It’s about creating an atmosphere where people feel at home, whether they’re here for the big game, a night out with friends, or simply a great drink."
As Walter’s Tavern prepares for its grand opening, it's on the hunt for bartenders and barbacks to join its team. Potential candidates are encouraged to forward their resumes to the tavern’s email address. Zeisloft, whose resume includes stints at RusTeak Wine Bar and Hard Rock International, brings his extensive experience to the role of general manager at Walter's.
Pine Street Hospitality, steered by Scott Kotroba and Matty Bullitt, has until now operated mostly within downtown Orlando, but is ready to expand its horizons into The Packing District. "Expanding into The Packing District feels like the next evolution for us," Kotroba expressed in a statement obtained by Orlando Shine. He added, "We love the history of this area and the vision behind creating a place that offers entertainment for the whole family." Bullitt shares this sentiment, envisioning a legacy for future generations as Orlando continues to grow and evolve.
