The North Carolina Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) announced its latest step to polish up the state's HR processes. We're talking about the launch of Workday. This new system is a bid to consolidate HR operations and make life a bit less bureaucratic for job seekers, agency HR teams, and hiring managers. Aiming to slash state government vacancies, Workday also pitches in by smoothing out the candidate's journey.

"North Carolina is a great place to live and work," Governor Josh Stein buzzed. "I am excited that the team at OSHR has met this new milestone in their work to streamline our HR systems, boost transparency, and attract more talented people who are committed to working toward a safer, stronger North Carolina," the OSHR shared in their release. To kick things off, Workday's Phase I will tackle recruitment, applicant tracking, and the ins and outs of managing employee transitions and positions, all in one handy spot.

We heard from State Human Resources Director Staci Meyer, who promised that OSHR is "working hard to make human resources easier, faster, and better." She's banking on this debut phase to notch up service quality for folks looking to contribute to state operations. And it's not just about making life cushy for applicants – HR staff will also see a leap in convenience, with automation tackling some of the usual drudgery.

State Talent Acquisition Manager Kristin Siemek told the press, “There are various tasks that are going to now be done more efficiently, like reference checks and interview scheduling,” Siemek explained how this shift will let recruiters double down on quality hires and keep the whole process transparent. The integration with LinkedIn and the recent passing of the State Hiring Accessibility and Modernization law further bolster the recruitment crusade, as per OSHR release.

Peak efficiency isn't just a pipe dream, according to Workday's architects. The software will continue to unfold additional clever tricks in coming phases. Meyer's got her eyes on the horizon, raring to partner with legislators to make these future chapters a win for the North Carolina's workforce. In the meantime, public service hopefuls can hop over to Workday to start crafting their job profile or sift through additional details on OSHR’s website.
