
A structure fire erupted in a detached garage in Northridge on October 27th, Photos and videos captured plumes of heavy smoke billowing from the site at 19058 W Schoenborn St. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported being in offensive mode as they fought the blaze that was showing significant signs of aggression. According to LAFD alerts, Fire Station 104 and several other units, including Battalion 17 and Valley Bureau, rushed to the scene with Battalion Chiefs and emergency medical teams in tow.
Efforts by 38 firefighters resulted in a knockdown of the fire within 19 minutes. As they worked tirelessly, a 60-year-old male occupant of the home attempted to control the fire prior to their arrival and was being assessed for minor inhalation injury, but transport was not expected. "No injuries reported to LAFD members," informed an update by the LAFD. Further details revealed that the garage housed an electric vehicle (EV), and LAFD HazMat units were called out to mitigate any hazards associated with the burned EV. The LAFD update stated the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Council District 12, which covers the area where the fire occurred, is monitoring the situation closely, and the investigation into the cause is ongoing. Organizations such as Battalion 15, Battalion 717, and other LAFD teams, including T73, T93, and T96, were announced as responding units. Safety for the residents and crews remained paramount as the situation unfolded.
