The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced multiple construction projects across Oklahoma City and surrounding areas that will cause lane closures and traffic delays through 2025 and beyond.

As per the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), on I-35 in Norman, the northbound left lane at Indian Hills Road will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through October for surface testing. Tecumseh Road will also be reduced to one lane between Flood Avenue and N.E. 12th Street through Friday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for an ongoing project.

US-77 in Norman will have intermittent lane closures in both directions between Classen Boulevard and Main Street through early November. On I-40, lanes will be narrowed between Meridian Avenue and May Avenue over I-44 during nighttime hours until fall 2025. In Midwest City, I-40 at Douglas Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction with no shoulders or merge distances. Drivers are advised to use caution and consider detours via I-240 and US-62/N. 23rd Street.

Additional projects include lane closures and narrowed lanes at I-240 and I-35 until 2025, with closures continuing on Crossroads Boulevard and the S.E. 74th Street/I-240 Service Road through spring 2026. Certain I-44 ramps at N.W. 10th Street will remain closed for a City of Oklahoma City bridge project, and I-35 between Memorial Road and US-77/2nd Street in Edmond will experience intermittent lane reductions through summer.

In El Reno, roundabout construction at the SH-66/US-81 intersection will continue to cause lane reductions through 2025. Other affected areas include SH-9E near US-77 in Norman through fall, eastbound SH-9W at I-35 near Goldsby through October, and SH-37/S.E. 4th Street at Broadway Avenue in Moore. Danforth Road and Kelly Avenue in Edmond will also be narrowed for intersection expansion work.

Drivers in Yukon and near Union City should expect lane restrictions on Garth Brooks Boulevard at I-40 and SH-152 until at least summer 2026. US-270 near Calumet will also see lane reductions. These projects are part of ODOT’s long-term improvement efforts across the region.
