Oklahoma City's Democratic Senator Mark Mann announced an interim study, "Serving Veterans in the 21st Century," scheduled on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in room 4S9 of the Oklahoma Legislature. The study will look at how the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs can update outdated technology to better serve over 261,000 state veterans, according to the Oklahoma Senate.

Senator Mann said, "The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) is working with outdated technology, and the end result is an unnecessarily complicated and problematic system for veterans to navigate." The study will explore using a unified technology platform to make claims, benefits, and services easier to access for veterans, including mental health, education, and employment resources, as reported by the Oklahoma Senate.

Oklahoma Senator Mark Mann will lead an interim study on improving services for veterans, held before the Senate’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, chaired by Senator Brenda Stanley. Mann said, "Oklahoma veterans have served at great sacrifice to themselves and their families – they shouldn’t have to jump through hoops or deal with outdated technology that can make getting services a needlessly frustrating process." The hearing will be open to the public and live-streamed on the Oklahoma Senate’s website.
