Oklahoma State Representative Rob Hall will host an interim study on child literacy, focusing on reading proficiency in early education, particularly from kindergarten through third grade.
As per the Oklahoma House of Representatives release, the study will be presented to the House Common Education Committee on Wednesday and will review current retention and intervention practices in Oklahoma. It will also examine literacy models from other states, considering early interventions such as tutoring, reading specialists, and increased parental engagement to help students meet literacy benchmarks before advancing academically.
House Speaker Kyle Hilbert and new state superintendent Lindel Fields are expected to participate in the discussion. The meeting will take place in Room 206 at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
