Over a busy week of law enforcement activity in San Bernardino County, Operation Consequences has made its presence felt with a series of targeted interventions aimed at quelling the tide of criminal activities in several neighborhoods.
From Oct. 6 through Oct. 12, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, working in tandem with multiple agencies, served five search warrants and performed proactive patrols with the support of the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team targeting Fontana and its surrounding areas, in a clear response to cries from those besieged by the ambiance of lingering crime, the agents have enforced the rule of the law where gang presence has dared to tread.
The one-week operation has seen the department's contact list grow with gang members and individuals barred from carrying firearms. "During their investigations, two firearms were seized," confirmed by the Public Affairs Division. Moreover, the period proved a testament to the department’s resolve by putting ten individuals behind bars on felony charges, with one particularly notable arrest being linked to the abhorrent crime of human trafficking.
Backed unequivocally by the County Board of Supervisors through special funds for crime suppression, the mission of Operation Consequences extends beyond a mere show of strength; its lasting objective remains to vastly improve the community's day-to-day quality of life, a goal that shall encompass several months of rigorous enforcement activities drawing upon resources from an impressive roster of law enforcement, which includes the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, California Highway Patrol and several other vital agencies engaged in a collaborative effort to uproot the systemic spread of violent crime, while also scavenging the sectors for culprits headlong into the illegal arms trade.
