The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for a male suspect following a concerning incident last Saturday, where a woman reportedly mistook a man's vehicle for an Uber and ended up jumping out of a moving SUV in a bid to avoid a possible kidnapping. According to WESH, the event unfolded early in the morning, around 4:08 a.m., after a 911 call from a Rebel gas station clerk on E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway alerted authorities to the situation.
The victim was on her way east along E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway towards Cross Prairie Parkway, when the man, driving a silver SUV, stopped to offer her a ride, during this time the driver was described as possibly Hispanic, in his 30s, with a handlebar-style mustache, and he was wearing a black T-shirt over a white undershirt coupled with a black baseball cap. As per WFTV, once aboard, the driver made inappropriate sexual comments, and when the victim demanded to exit the SUV, he refused, which precipitated her desperate attempt to escape from the accelerating vehicle.
Individuals with knowledge about the suspect or the event in question have been encouraged to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222 or to leave an anonymous tip through Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
