Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office deputies have detained a Pasadena man after a brief standoff at a residence on Twickenham Road. Joseph Scardina, a 37-year-old man, is facing serious charges following allegations of threats made against state officials. Yesterday, deputies from the Sheriff's Tactical Response Unit Criminal Apprehension Team 1 were enforcing an arrest as they approached Scardina's home around noon. Scardina reportedly opened the door, then quickly retreated inside, locking himself away. Attempts to communicate were met with silence, leading deputies to forcibly enter and apprehend him.
The arrest warrant for Scardina stems from a previous conviction where court records, as noted by The Bay Net, indicate a guilty plea to a misdemeanor count of threatening a state official. The threats were directed toward his probation officer and several Anne Arundel County judges. Despite a three-year sentence with most of it suspended, and two years of supervised probation starting from September 20, 2024, Scardina found himself in violation of the terms by September 8, resulting in the bench warrant that precipitated this recent episode.
After the home barricade scenario, Scardina was taken to the Jennifer Road Detention Center, where he currently resides without bail. The law enforcement operation unfolded without physical altercation or injury, as confirmed by Fox Baltimore.
