Taiwan-based PEGATRON Corporation is set to expand its global footprint with the announcement of its first U.S. manufacturing facility, which will be located in Georgetown, Texas. The company, known for its work in artificial intelligence computing services, has acquired a substantial 168,784-square-foot facility to house operations.

Marking a significant move to bring high-tech manufacturing jobs to the region, PEGATRON plans to invest at least $35 million into the capital expenses of the new site. This project is expected to generate hundreds of employment opportunities, with a commitment to fill 100 positions within three years. As Texas reinforces its standing as a destination for international tech investment, the Georgetown site aims to directly impact local economic growth and strengthen the region's tech infrastructure.

In a statement released by the Williamson County official website, Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, within the Office of the Governor, expressed warm congratulations to PEGATRON, noting Texas's position as “a global leader when it comes to advanced tech and AI”.

Several agencies, including the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, and the Austin Regional Manufacturing Association, collaborated to successfully recruit PEGATRON to the region. Ed Latson, CEO of Opportunity Austin, highlighted the region's pivotal role in the tech industry by stating, “The global technology manufacturing industry is evolving rapidly as companies look to strengthen supply chains and bring advanced production closer to their customers,” according to the Williamson County official website. The groundbreaking for the facility, located at the Blue Springs development at 610 Blue Springs Blvd., is slated to commence before the end of December 2025.

PEGATRON's decision was welcomed in Georgetown, with Mayor Josh Schroeder considering it a milestone for the city's economic development. "We are honored PEGATRON has selected Georgetown for its first U.S. manufacturing site," Schroeder said in an interview. Williamson County also expressed enthusiasm through County Judge Steve Snell, stating the move will impact jobs, “not just for our generation, but also for our children.” The proposed economic development agreements, which are performance-based, are in the process of seeking approval from the Georgetown City Council and Williamson County Commissioners Court.

PEGATRON, a company with a diverse product range that includes everything from smartphones to smart home devices, is positioning itself strategically in the U.S. market. The selection of Georgetown, Texas, for its first stateside manufacturing operation signals a growing trend of tech companies working to localize supply chains and service provision.
