As Phoenix residents ready themselves for the week ahead, the National Weather Service is forecasting a mix of thunderstorms and clear skies. The latest update, as reported on their National Weather Service website, indicates that there's a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight with a comfortable low around 72°F.
The chances of precipitation climb to 70% on Columbus Day, with thunderstorms most likely before 2pm, marking an unsettled start to the week. Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 85°F, while the evening promises clearer skies and a drop to around 67°F. While the area might see rainfall amounts of a tenth to a quarter of an inch, this could rise in areas hit by thunderstorms.
But, redemption comes swiftly, with the forecast pointing towards sunnier days from Tuesday onward. The city should see a high of around 82°F on Tuesday under sunny skies, easing into a mostly clear night with a low around 63°F. These conditions are expected to continue, with the next significant drop in temperature slated for Wednesday night, when the low could go down to 59°F.
Phoenix's pattern of warm days and cool nights will continue through the end of the week. Thursday and Friday each promise highs near 78°F and 79°F, respectively, and clear nights with lows hovering around 58°F. Similarly, a sunny Saturday awaits with a high around 82°F, followed by another mostly clear night with a low, once again, around 58°F.
The stability continues into Sunday, maintaining an equilibrium with sunny skies and a high near 85°F. Throughout the week, winds are anticipated to be mild, generally calm with occasional bouts from the east or southwest at around 5 mph.
In a climate that often swings from one extreme to the other, a week of mixed conditions followed by steady sunshine may come as a relief to many in the region. For the latest weather updates and advisories, residents can refer to the National Weather Service's website.
