
A small plane crashed into a marsh near St. Augustine Airport today, causing local emergency teams to respond quickly. According to Action News Jax, the Florida Highway Patrol said the plane went down in the water near the airport, landing in Redfish Creek. Sgt. Dylan Bryan said there were no injuries.
Despite the serious crash, the pilot, who was the only person on the plane, survived and was in stable condition. Sergeant Dylan Bryan said the pilot was able to call emergency officials after the crash, as per First Coast News.
The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the accident. The pilot was quickly rescued by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and taken to the hospital in stable condition. Details about what caused the plane to crash into the marsh are still unknown. St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol have not released further information.
