The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Wind Advisory for the Portland and Vancouver Metro areas, as well as surrounding regions, effective until 11 PM PDT this evening. According to the NWS Portland, south winds are expected to blow at speeds of 15 to 25 mph with potential gusts up to 45 mph, and even higher gusts up to 50 mph in the vicinity of heavy rain showers. The gusty conditions are anticipated to disrupt unsecured objects and may lead to power outages due to downed tree limbs.

Apart from the winds, the weather in Portland is looking to be drenched with a steady stream of showers and possible thunderstorms over the coming days, with the forecast showing 100% chance of precipitation today and Sunday, and near-continuous rain chances extending into next week. The skies will remain mostly cloudy, and the temperatures will hover around the mid-50s. These conditions are set to continue, providing little opportunity for any reprieve from the wet weather.

The NWS warns area residents to use extra caution, particularly if driving high-profile vehicles, and to secure any outdoor objects that might be affected by the gusty conditions. The regions specified to be on alert include the Central and Southern Willamette Valley, the Foothills of the Northern and Central Oregon Cascades, the Lower Columbia River and Cowlitz River Valleys, and the South Washington Cascade Foothills.
