Loveland Intermediate and Loveland Middle School students experienced an unexpected day off yesterday after a power outage prompted the closure of both schools. LOCAL12 reported that the Loveland City School District issued a statement confirming the power outage and the resultant closure for grades 5 through 8. This unforeseen interruption to the school day affected numerous families and students in the district.
Updates provided directly to families indicated that there would be no school for children in the 5th to the 8th grades yesterday. According to an email sent by the district, as reported by WLWT, the intermediate and middle schools were the only institutions within the district to be affected by the power outage.
The sudden blackout not only halted educational activities but also raised questions regarding the cause of the outage. FOX19 revealed that over 1,100 customers were affected by the power disruption, as documented on Duke Energy's website. Furthermore, while power was forecasted to be restored by 8:45 a.m., the uncertainty surrounding the cause of the outage remained, with Hamilton County dispatchers unable to provide an immediate explanation for the incident.
Efforts to understand the blackout's origins continued, with FOX19 stating they reached out to a Duke Energy spokesman for further clarification. At the time of writing, additional details regarding the outage and its potential causes were still awaited, with the hope that light would be shed on the circumstances that led to the day's academic standstill for a portion of Loveland's student population.
