The Rolesville Downtown Development Association (RDDA) recently awarded its first grant through the Façade Improvement Program, initiating a new chapter for local business aesthetics in downtown Rolesville. A commercial building on Rogers Road, home to multiple local businesses such as Edward Jones (Valerie Massengill, Financial Advisor), Soda Box, and Sweetheart Treats, has been named the recipient of a $2,500 grant. This funding is earmarked for a fresh coat of paint intended to enhance the community's central corridor.
Seeing the façade gleaming with new paint, residents of Rolesville have already noticed the upgrade. Owned by RLegacy, the building's improvements represent a concerted effort between property owners and the town's administration to boost downtown's appeal. "For over a year, I’ve been thinking of ways to refresh the building, so I thought painting the building would give it a fresh look," Nisha Chanadak, Vice President of Focus Properties, told Rolesville's official website. Chanadak's sentiment highlights the communal aspiration behind RDDA's grant program.
The façade improvement initiative is a collaborative venture between the RDDA and the Town of Rolesville with the aim to support local businesses in exterior renovations. Offering a 50/50 matching grant, the program covers improvements like painting, lighting upgrades, new signage, and landscaping. "This is a wonderful program that the Town and RDDA have worked collaboratively on over the past year. It's a great way to help local businesses with their upgrades and exterior renovations, which in turn improves the overall look and feel of our Town in general," Mical McFarland, Economic Development Director for the Town of Rolesville, expressed in a statement.
Launched with an eye to revitalization, the RDDA's program aspires to a more vibrant downtown. Such enhancements are designed to draw in both residents and visitors, potentially enticing new investments into the heart of Rolesville. The broader ambition of this façade improvement grant aligns with the ongoing work of the RDDA. Funded in 2023, the organization is a key player in downtown revitalization, focusing on business attraction, support, and collaborative efforts for marketing and beautification projects.
