The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory, which is expected to cause noticeable disruptions to the typically stable Pacific Northwest weather, in effect from this afternoon through the early hours of Sunday. This advisory is issued with the expectation of southeast to southwest winds whipping up at speeds of 15 to 30 mph, with predictably more forceful gusts reaching 35 to 45 mph at times, which could lead to downed tree limbs and sporadic power outages.
Areas affected stand far-reaching, across portions of northwest and west central Washington, with instructions from the NWS to exercise extra caution on the roads, and particularly for those driving high-profile vehicles with a higher risk of being unsettled by such gusts. Gusty winds have the potential to toss around anything not nailed down outside, an inconvenience for anyone who hasn't secured their Halloween decorations or any patio furniture left out.
Meanwhile, in terms of precipitation, the NWS doesn't offer much in the way of reprieve, placing the chance of rainfall at a staggering 100% today, with new precipitation amounts ranging between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, while tonight, the rain continues with similarly soggy predictions and a 90% chance of rain keeping Seattle firmly under the clouds with around the same amount of rainfall.
Showers are expected to continue through Friday, creating a wet start to the week. The National Weather Service says the storm system will bring stronger winds than usual for the area and is advising residents to secure outdoor items to prevent potential damage.
