Pittsburgh Police are conducting a profound investigation into a harrowing discovery: an infant found deceased in the trunk of a vehicle on the city's North Side. The investigation began following a report from a woman who showed up at a local hospital after giving birth, raising alarms when she did not have her baby with her. According to WPXI, the woman's information led the Ohio Township police to a parked vehicle on Federal Street, where the tragic discovery was made.
Upon their arrival, Pittsburgh officers found the baby wrapped in clothes and placed inside a plastic bag, announcing the infant dead at the scene. As per details provided by WPXI, the subsequent investigation directed them to a residence on the 100 block of Marshall Avenue, where the woman is known to frequent, and evidence suggested that a baby had likely been born there recently.
The unnamed woman, currently receiving treatment at a hospital, is poised to be taken for questioning at Pittsburgh police headquarters once her medical condition permits. In the midst of the investigation, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office is working diligently to ascertain both the cause and manner of the infant's death, as reported by WTAE.
