Earlier this month, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a significant drug seizure and the arrest of a fugitive. According to a social media post from the SJSO, on October 2, their task force stopped a vehicle on I-95 for displaying a counterfeit license plate.
During the search, deputies found over 300 grams of marijuana and more than 120 individual containers of narcotics packaged for sale and transport. The seized items included 22.7 grams of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills, 0.4 grams of Acetaminophen and Dextroamphetamine pills, two fake driver licenses, and counterfeit Florida temporary license plates. Additionally, 12 bottles of Promethazine Hydrochloride Oral Solution were discovered, indicating possible intent to sell.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Roshad Palmer, was charged with multiple offenses including possession of marijuana over 20 grams, intent to sell marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Additional charges include possession and intent to sell various other controlled substances, possession of forged documents, and related drug paraphernalia offenses. Mr. Palmer now faces several charges related to drug and document violations.
Additionally, it was revealed that Palmer is a fugitive from justice, having failed to appear in court in Georgia for separate serious charges. His record in Georgia includes possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule 2 controlled substances, and other charges related to marijuana and firearms. According to the SJSO's statement, Palmer is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail without bond while awaiting extradition.
