The City of St. Louis Division of Corrections is hosting its first job fair aimed at increasing the number of correctional officers to address staffing shortages. The event is scheduled for tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at City Hall. According to official announcement, the job fair is intended to simplify and speed up the hiring process.

Candidates attending the job fair can complete the application, interview, and conditional hiring process all in one day. Applications will be processed on-site through the Department of Personnel, allowing qualified applicants to receive conditional job offers during the event. Final hiring decisions will depend on successful completion of background checks and drug screenings.

Nate Hayward, Commissioner of Corrections, highlighted the importance of the job fair, describing it as a key step in organizational growth. He said in the official announcement, "We are entering an important phase of organizational growth." He added, "to strengthening our workforce to effectively address challenges and enhance the quality of care provided to those in our custody."

The Division of Corrections is not the only organization participating in the job fair. Partner agencies including the St. Louis Sheriff’s Office, Physician Correctional USA, and Summit Food Service will also be recruiting for positions such as deputies, nurses, food service support, and cook supervisors. Applicants do not need to be city residents or have prior corrections experience. The Division states that candidates must have at least six months of work experience and be at least 19 years old.
