The Alhambra Police Department took to social media to announce the resolution of a stolen car incident that swiftly concluded with an arrest in the San Gabriel Valley. The driver, identified as Damien Juarez of Bellflower, CA, sparked a brief police chase after fleeing in a vehicle reported stolen from Norwalk, CA. He was apprehended after abandoning the car at an apartment complex and attempting to elude officers on foot.
According to the Facebook post made by the Alhambra Police Department, the circumstances came to a head when Juarez, unable to evade the pursuing officers any longer, left his hiding place. “Damien was in his self-awareness era mid-foot bail,” commented the PD in a light-hearted wrap-up to the otherwise tense scenario. Officers from the San Gabriel Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Aero Bureau supported the Alhambra Police in the search and arrest.
The situation began when officers noticed the stolen car at the intersection of New Ave. and Valley Blvd. Upon spotting the law enforcement presence, Juarez drove off, initiating the chase that led to his capture. Following the foot pursuit, Juarez reached a point of resignation, as he reportedly commented on his decision to come out of hiding, saying he was “tired of hiding from us.”
The conclusion of this incident ends with Juarez booked at the Alhambra Police Department's Jail. Unlike the transformative narratives often found in literature, Juarez's moment of self-awareness led not to personal redemption but to his arrest. This slice of real life, as noted with a bit of levity by the Alhambra Police Department, showcases an unexpected blend of human reaction and the swift arm of law enforcement.
