
A vehicle theft in White Pine ended swiftly thanks to the coordinated efforts of local police and community collaboration. The White Pine Police Department reported on their social media that earlier that day, a 2006 Cadillac STS valued at approximately $10,000 was stolen from a business located off Roy Messer Hwy at Exit 4. The car's owner, Brianne Wentworth, promptly reported the theft, setting off a police response that would soon see the car recovered and a suspect under arrest.
Officers Chris Edmonds and Kevin Carr were dispatched following the report and were alerted to the presence of a vehicle resembling Wentworth's car at the Douglas Lake Market. Upon arriving, they located the missing Cadillac and identified the suspect as Michael Terrance Stimson (03/26/1991), who is originally from California but currently residing on Idlewild Drive in White Pine. According to the social media post by the White Pine Police Department, Stimson was taken into custody without incident.
The Police Department's post highlighted the importance of timely communication in such incidents, expressing gratitude for the swift action taken by the victim and local businesses. It was the quick reporting alongside the support from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, THP, and the Jefferson County 911 dispatchers that played a fundamental role in the speedy recovery of the stolen vehicle.
Stimson's arrest was devoid of any complications, and his personal belongings, including a backpack and cellphone, were found inside the Cadillac, suggesting conclusive evidence linking him to the crime. The official social media announcement included a note of appreciation towards everyone involved in the case's resolution, reminding the community of the effectiveness of cooperation between law enforcement and the public.
