Colorado Springs played the stage to a police chase and subsequent arrest of three individuals linked to an auto theft from Aurora. On a brisk Friday afternoon, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officers spotted a gray 2006 Toyota Corolla, reported stolen on Sept. 30 from Aurora, at the intersection of East Fountain Boulevard and South Chelton Road. According to KDVR, the vehicle had been left vulnerable, unlocked, with the keys still in the ignition when it was taken.
Attempting a routine stop, police engaged, but the Corolla's driver chose flight over capitulation, leading to a pursuit. It wasn't until later that day that Motor Vehicle Theft (MVT) detectives caught up with the Corolla near Boggs Place and Preuss Road, according to The Gazette. The officers made contact with three suspects: driver Tianna Quin, aged 25, and passengers Mandy-Lee Miller, 26, and Lela Edwards, 55.
Quin, who The Gazette identified as a "prolific" car theft convict, along with Miller, faced charges for motor vehicle theft. Edwards, the oldest among the trio, found herself in custody, but for multiple outstanding warrants, unrelated to the car heist. In a dramatic turn befitting a modern-day crime saga, each of the accused was escorted to the Criminal Justice Center for booking. CSPD noted, as pointed out by KKTV, that this was not Quin's first entanglement with the criminal justice system over vehicle theft.
