The fall Fix-It Fair is just around the corner. Scheduled for November 5 at the Lacey MakerSpace, local volunteers will be ready to breathe new life into your well-loved but broken possessions. According to the county's announcement, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., experts will be available to fix clothing, lamps, housewares, jewelry, small appliances, and more, for free.
This community event isn't just about making repairs—it's about supporting a culture of sustainability. Recognized by a Best in Category award from the National Association of Counties (NACo), the Fix-It Fair is changing the way residents think about consumption. The honor, highlighting the initiative's contribution to waste reduction and a circular economy, serves as a testament to the difference one repaired item can make. In a statement obtained by the county, Rob Pudner, the County Recycling and Waste Reduction Specialist, emphasized, "When you fix items instead of buying new ones, you help reduce waste, support a circular economy, and save money."
Head over to St Martin's University Campus, Zaverl Hall, Building 5, on Baran Drive SE, Lacey, WA 98503 to be part of the repair revolution. Get those damaged heirlooms and favorite gadgets out of the drawer and back into your life. Remember, while the services are free, patience is paramount—fixers work on a first-come, first-served basis. Given the attention the event has garnered, a healthy turnout is expected.
