In a showing of unity and community outreach, Tulsa Police Department officers congregated at God's Shining Light Church this past weekend to observe National Faith & Blue Weekend. The event's purpose, as shared on the Tulsa Police Department's Facebook page, was to fortify the connections between law enforcement, local faith institutions, and the Tulsa community.
Officers from various patrol divisions, such as Mingo Valley, Riverside, and Gilcrease, alongside Chief Larsen and other command staff, assembled to mark the occasion. In a display meant to draw the community closer, the Tulsa Police Air Support Unit indulged the crowd with a demonstration of their helicopter, after Detective Reggie Warren opened the festivities with a rendition of the national anthem, as reported by the Tulsa Police Department.
The commitment to bridge gaps and bolster partnership was evident in the presence of several community organizations. Entities such as the Tulsa Fire Department, EMSA, Lighthorse Police, the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office, and City of Tulsa Municipal Courts joined the police in solidarity. The collaboration and shared endeavor underscores a city-wide initiative to reinforce public trust and mutual support, as per the Tulsa Police Department.
