
Las Cruces authorities are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday night, leaving two individuals wounded on North Main Street. According to the City of Las Cruces, the event unfolded around 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when two pedestrians, a 36-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, were reportedly struck by gunfire as they made their way across the street. They were near the 1900 block of North Main Street when the shots were fired.
Responding swiftly to reports of the incident, police and fire department personnel found the wounded pedestrians and promptly transported them to a local hospital. As they crossed the road westbound, the injuries sustained are not believed to be life-threatening. Still embedded within the early stages of the investigation, officials have yet to apprehend the individuals responsible for the shooting.
The search for the suspects led to the discovery that two men, one of whom is presumed to be the shooter, escaped by running east along a pathway adjacent to a drainage ditch. Despite the law enforcement's efforts, the location of the two men remains unknown. Witnesses have provided descriptions, with one suspected shooter being described as a short Hispanic man, and his accompanying suspect as a Hispanic man who is tall and skinny.
