Grab your glue sticks and watercolor sets, Raleigh residents—the Five Points Center for Active Adults is rolling out a series of art classes starting next month that promise to stimulate your creativity without breaking the bank. For those of you looking to dabble in the world of collage, you've got the chance to learn from Adrienne Garnett, an award-winning artist whose workshops have been widely acclaimed. The center's announcement states, "Come and learn how to make visually pleasing composition collages from an expert," and for a modest $22, you might just be able to channel your inner artist, as per the City of Raleigh.
The collaging fun begins November 5 and will continue every Wednesday until November 26, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. You don't have to be the next Picasso to join—this class is open to anyone aged 18 and over. As per the announcement, "Adrienne will guide you through not only how to utilize different art mediums, but also how to channel your feelings into your art." To register, you can easily sign up on RecLink.
Those with a penchant for brushes and blooms can try their hand at watercolor painting starting November 18. With sessions every Tuesday through December 16, the instructor will cover the basics, from paper and brushes to the elements of art like texture and color. All skill levels are welcome provided you're over 18, and prices range from $32 for Raleigh residents to $47 for non-residents. Don't forget to bring your own supplies, which the folks over at Five Points have kindly listed out online for you.
Lastly, for artists seeking feedback on their work, the center is offering an Open Studio Critique. Beginning December 1 and concluding on the 15th, every Monday afternoon will be dedicated to refining your craft under the guidance of none other than Adrienne Garnett. "Have you wished a professional artist was available to help you improve your art?" teases the official description on the City of Raleigh website. For just $20, Garnett will be available to help you in our art studio with any project that you're working on. Those interested in perfecting their pieces can register, once again, on RecLink.
