In a detailed operation that spanned several months, the Solano County Auto Theft Task Force has significantly impacted auto theft in Vallejo, culminating in the discovery and recovery of a plethora of stolen items. On August 28, following a rigorous investigation, the team executed a search warrant at two residences in the local area. They discovered an assortment of stolen goods, including high-value vehicles and an assault weapon, a reveal made by the Solano County Sheriff's Office on their social media.
The bust yielded five stolen vehicles, including a GMC Denali pickup and a Chevrolet Corvette, collectively valued at over $270,000. Alongside these vehicles, authorities found more than $22,500 of illegal drugs, a substantial amount of cash, and, notably, a stolen fully automatic assault rifle. The operation illuminated the existence of a VIN-switching operation, a tactic used by criminals to disguise the identities of stolen vehicles. These efforts made by the Task Force represent a substantial blow to local criminal activities involving auto theft.
Following the search warrant outcome, an arrest warrant was issued on September 25. The suspect, 48-year-old Vallejo resident Robert Wilkes, was subsequently apprehended and booked into the Solano County Jail with bail set at $200,000.
