A somber tale unfolded in Chino Hills last week, where a domestic violence incident culminated in the tragic loss of life. Jillian Jones, a 44-year-old woman, was discovered deceased in her home on the 4000 block of Village Drive on the evening of October 8th. Deputies from Chino Hills Station, responding to a medical aid call around 10:23 p.m., found Jones had sustained a fatal traumatic injury.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department began a detailed investigation into the case, later identifying Vincent Ratliff, aged 62 and from Victorville, as the suspect involved in the homicide. Despite his absence from the crime scene upon the officers' arrival, detectives pieced together evidence suggesting a romantic entanglement between Ratliff and Jones. Following the incident, according to a statement by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail took charge of probing further into the murder.
Just a day after the discovery of Jillian Jones' body, law enforcement managed to locate Ratliff. He was detained by SED personnel in the city of Victorville as he was leaving his residence. His connection to the murder was deemed significant enough to warrant immediate custody, and Ratliff has since been held at the West Valley Detention Center on the charge of murder. The evidence gathered thus far supports detectives' belief in a correlation between the domestic strife and the dreadful outcome.
Authorities are adamant about uncovering the full scope of the tragedy and are calling on the public for any leads. The Homicide Detail can be reached at 909-890-4904 for those looking to contribute information, as urged in the sheriff's press release.
