Washington County has announced the completion of major road improvements on Tualatin-Sherwood and Roy Rogers Roads. A celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Oct. 20 at Pioneer City Park in Sherwood, featuring a short ceremony and ribbon-cutting event.

The Washington County worked with the cities of Sherwood and Tualatin, along with the Willamette Water Supply Program (WWSP), to improve five miles of roadway. The projects added lanes, bike paths, and other upgrades designed to improve traffic flow and safety.

One completed project at Tualatin-Sherwood Road and Highway 99W began in September 2021 and finished in September 2024. It included new travel lanes, upgraded bike lanes, street lighting, traffic signals, and a 66-inch water pipeline installed by WWSP.

Roy Rogers Road, from Chicken Creek to Borchers Drive, underwent construction from July 2022 to October 2024. The improvements added five travel lanes, multi-use paths, street lighting, sound walls, and a 66-inch water pipeline.

Another section of Tualatin-Sherwood Road, from Langer Farms Parkway to Teton Avenue, began work in July 2022 and is expected to conclude this month. Plans include a five-lane roadway, multi-use paths, and improved street lighting.

Funding for the projects came from the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP), with additional contributions from the cities of Sherwood and Tualatin, the Transportation Development Tax, and WWSP. Coordinating road and water pipeline construction was intended to reduce costs and minimize traffic disruption.
