As Washington County continues its recovery from the damaging floods in August, a Disaster Recovery Center is now open to assist local residents and businesses. The center has updated its schedule to better serve those seeking in-person help with relief applications and access to recovery resources. It is located at 333 E Washington St, West Bend, in the Public Agency Center (Lower Level), with parking available in the lot off Indiana Ave. The center is open weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The facility provides support to the community as recovery efforts continue. The closing date for the center has not yet been announced and will be shared at a later time. In the meantime, individuals who are unable to visit in person can contact the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362, available daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
Prompt action is important, as the deadline to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance is approaching, currently set for November 12. This assistance covers various losses, including damage to homes and personal property. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has also established deadlines: applications for physical property damage must be submitted by November 10, while the deadline for economic injury applications is June 11, 2026.
Support efforts extend beyond FEMA, with several agencies joining to assist individuals navigating the recovery process. Representatives from the SBA, Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM), Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department, Washington County Land Use and Natural Resources, and Washington County Health and Human Services will be available at the center. For more information on disaster assistance, affected parties are encouraged to visit Washington County's official website.
