Washington D.C. residents can expect a range of weather patterns this week, starting with today's partly sunny skies and a high near 58 degrees. While the wind might provide a nip to the air with gusts reaching up to 24 mph, the city will transition into cooler temperatures at night, dropping to around 45 degrees with a slight chance of showers after 11pm – though there's only a 20% chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
Look out for Wednesday's shift, there will likely be showers mainly after 2pm, with the northeast wind persisting at 9 to 11 mph, and, gusts could potentially reach as high as 20 mph. "Chance of precipitation is 60%," as noted the National Weather Service. It's worthwhile for locals to carry their umbrellas as new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible.
The week's weather continues to be damp as showers and potential thunderstorms roll into Thursday. With a high near 65 degrees and an east wind around 11 mph, gusting up to 21 mph, it's shaping up to be a soggy day with the chance of precipitation at 90%. Winds and showers are expected to calm somewhat by Thursday night, but a 60% chance of precipitation still means that early evening plans could be a wet affair, as reported by the National Weather Service.
However, there's light, at the end of the tunnel, by Friday the city will begin to dry out with mostly sunny skies and a pleasant high near 60 degrees. The weekend also looks favorable, with mostly sunny conditions continuing through Saturday. "Mostly clear, with a low around 44," the forecast for Friday night promises a good start to the weekend. Even as the night temperatures dip slightly on Saturday night, "mostly cloudy, with a low around 42," residents will have mostly sunny days to enjoy, as stated by the National Weather Service.
Sunday will stay pleasant with a high near 59°F. By Sunday night and into Monday, showers may return — a 30% chance Sunday night rising to 40% on Monday. Daytime highs will be in the upper 50s, with lows in the low 40s, as per the National Weather Service.
