Gearing up for the fiscal responsibilities of the coming year, the Weld County Board of Commissioners is slated to kick off the approval process for the 2026 budget. This endeavor is scheduled to begin on November 3 with a series of three readings that are set to unfold during the regular board meetings. Interested parties can attend these sessions in the Centennial Hearing Room at the Weld County Administration Building in Greeley, as reported by Weld County.
The first reading of the budget will take place on Monday, Nov. 3, promptly at 9 a.m. Following suit, the second reading is to then occur on Monday, Nov. 17, at the same morning hour. To wrap up this process, the third and final reading is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10, maintaining the ever-consistent 9 a.m. start time. As per Weld County, this marks the second year that the board has opted to fully explore the proposed budget through a three-reading process, a step that not only encourages public engagement but also provides a plausible window to make necessary adjustments before finalization.
The progression to these formal readings follows dedicated efforts made earlier in the year during work sessions in July. It was during these collaborative moments that each county department had the opportunity to lay out its financial necessities before the board. According to Weld County, this period of review was instrumental in setting the stage for the budget approval sequence now at hand.
