A high-speed chase across West Memphis resulted in the apprehension of 18-year-old Rodarious Terrel Johnson on Monday, after Arkansas State Police (ASP) and West Memphis Police Department (WMPD) coordinated in tracking down a stolen vehicle. The incident, involving a stolen Hyundai Genesis, began near 11:30 a.m., escalating into a pursuit through the city streets, as reported by Action News 5.
The pursuit culminated near the intersection of 7th and Barton Streets, where a tactical vehicle intervention was used to halt the car, a technique akin to a PIT maneuver. This action follows the suspect managing to regain control of the vehicle after crashing it momentarily, according to details from FOX13 Memphis. Johnson, after being tracked from a Memphis location, was not only fleeing from authorities but was also already wanted on several serious charges.
The charges against Johnson stem from a prior incident in July for which he was sought by the WMPD, including attempted murder, aggravated robbery, four counts of terroristic acts, and vehicle theft, as per information from WREG. Following the chase, the young man now faces additional accusations, including battery, fleeing, robbery, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
