A house fire in Westminster has tragically uprooted the lives of five adults. Fox Baltimore reported that the Office of the State Fire Marshall confirmed the incident occurred last night at a single-family home located at 1706 The Strand. Teams from the Westminster Fire Department were called to the scene around 7:29 p.m. to tackle the fierce blaze.
Despite the quick response, the fire proved challenging as it engulfed the entire residence. It took an extensive team of 73 firefighters and approximately 90 minutes to extinguish the fire, during which time the house sustained an estimated $200,000 in damages, as revealed by Fox Baltimore. The Maryland State Fire Marshal reported that the fire had erupted in one of the bedrooms, although the precise cause behind the conflagration is still under active investigation.
Despite the extensive property damage, it was fortunate that there were no injuries reported. However, the incident has rendered five adults without a home. According to a statement obtained by WMAR-2 News, the absence of a fire alarm and sprinkler system in the premises might have imperiled the residents further and contributed to the quick spread of the flames.
The investigation into the origins of the fire by the office of the State Fire Marshal is ongoing.
