
A tragic incident unfolded in downtown Las Vegas last night when a woman was fatally shot near Fremont Street, as confirmed by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. The incident, originally reported by 8 News Now, occurred close to the Desert Hills Motel on the 2100 block of Fremont Street.
According to FOX5 Vegas, Metro officers were nearby conducting patrols and responded promptly after hearing gunshots just before 11:00 p.m. They found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds, performed first aid, and swiftly transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Fremont Street was subsequently closed to traffic, though eastbound lanes were later reopened, while westbound lanes remained shut down for additional time as the investigation proceeded.
Lt. Steve Riback with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police expressed that homicide detectives were interviewing multiple witnesses to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting. "There are multiple witnesses and persons on the scene that the homicide detectives are trying to determine their involvement with the incident," Riback said in a statement obtained by 8 News Now. The area around Eastern Avenue and Bruce Street remained cordoned off for several hours while authorities continued their inquiry.
Officials have indicated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident; however, no suspect information has been released at this time. Investigators are still working through the details and have not yet made any arrests, as noted by News 3 LV.
