Early this morning, a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in West Philadelphia. According to NBC Philadelphia, the incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. at the intersection of 40th Street and Girard Avenue. Police reported that the driver remained on the scene and was not injured.
FOX29 stated that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at 3:03 a.m. The driver was confirmed to be sober and cooperative with law enforcement. The victim’s identity has not yet been released as the investigation continues.
On the same day, a mass casualty incident was declared in downtown Montgomery after a shooting that left multiple people injured. CNAW2 News reported a heavy response from Montgomery Police, Montgomery Fire-Rescue, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in the area of Bibb Street and Commerce Street.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid downtown Montgomery while the investigation is ongoing. The number of people injured has not yet been confirmed.
