
Washington D.C. has seen yet another example of its ongoing struggle with youth crime, as the Metropolitan Police Department reported the arrest of a 14-year-old boy following an attempted armed robbery in Southeast D.C. this past Sunday. The incident, which unfolded in the 2100 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast, occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m., according to the MPD.
Detailing the events as they transpired, authorities disclosed that the teenage suspect confronted another teenager, demanding their possessions at gunpoint. The intended victim managed to escape and seek help from special police officers who were close by. The officers, along with an MPD officer, responded swiftly and apprehended the young perpetrator. A recovery of firearm was made during the arrest.
The suspect, identified only as a juvenile male from Southeast D.C., now faces serious charges. He has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
