The Mankato Public Safety Police and Fire Departments responded to the emergency call at 9:05 a.m., arriving at the scene at 1504 North Broad Street to confront a garage fully engulfed in flames, an announcement detailed on the City of Mankato's official website.
Firefighters successfully battled the blaze, averting further tragedy; however, the fire claimed the structure completely and left several household pets beyond rescue, while a few were saved by the homeowners who were present during the incident. Fortunately, there were no casualties; the damage, however, is considerable, with a total loss of the structure.
