An 84-year-old woman from Kula has died following a car crash on Maui, as reported by the Maui Police Department. Carmencita Goble lost control of her vehicle around 1:10 p.m. last Friday on Thompson Road. According to a statement obtained by KHON2, the crash resulted in the vehicle partially flipping over and ending up facing the direction opposite its initial travel.
Ms. Goble was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to them the following day. Not wearing her seatbelt during the crash, her death marks the county’s 17th traffic fatality in 2025, which, having gone through the intersection of Thompson Road and Keokea Place, a mile south, is an increase from the 14 reported at the same time last year.
The Maui Police Department has not finalized the involvement of speed, alcohol, or drugs as contributing factors in this incident. The crash remains under investigation, as noted by Hawaii News Now.
