The spirit of giving is alive and well in Arlington, where the community is gearing up for a second round of the Mission Joy Toy Drive. The drive aims to stock the shelves of Mission Arlington's Christmas Store, and it's received a warm embrace from contributors across the city.
In true holiday fashion, Arlington ISD has banded together with local fire stations, libraries, and city buildings to facilitate collections. These partners, which include the City of Arlington, the Arlington Fire Department, the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and Texas Trust, are central to the initiative. As Arlington ISD Communications reports, these organizations are helping to ensure that no child in the community is left without a gift this December.
The city has made it incredibly easy for residents to contribute, setting up donation boxes across Arlington. Interested donors can find these locations in public spaces such as schools, fire stations, and other city facilities. To participate, one simply needs to donate a new, unwrapped toy suitable for a boy or a girl.
The festivities will culminate on December 3, 2025, with a special event that not only accepts donations but also offers a slice of celebration. The grand finale, offering live holiday music and entertainment courtesy of Arlington ISD students, will take place at the Dr. Marcelo Cavazos Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Tillie Burgin, the executive director of Mission Arlington, along with her team, will be there to greet donors and partake in the joyous occasion.
