Durham County, North Carolina takes another leap forward in the financial industry. Aspida Financial Services, a company hailed for its rapid growth, has announced the expansion of its global headquarters within the county. The news broke out following a recent meeting of the North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee, with Aspida expecting to recruit 1,000 employees over the coming years and planning to invest more than $28 million into this venture, according to Durham County's news platform.
The current address of Aspida at 2327 Englert Drive will be replaced by a new, yet-to-be-disclosed flagship space. Durham County Board of Commissioners Chair Nida Allam conveyed enthusiasm about the project, detailing its alignment with county objectives. "This impressive project advances a number of County goals and is the largest recruited jobs project to date. Aspida also brings an excitement to partner with Durham’s workforce development community to support financial services career pathways,” Allam told Durham County's news platform.
Geoff Durham, President and CEO of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, noted the significance of supporting local business growth. Echoing this sentiment, Aspida CEO and President Lou Hensley affirmed the firm’s dedication to Durham and the broader North Carolina community. “The Triangle’s support of business advancement, expanding infrastructure, and heavy focus on technology create the right environment for our quickly growing organization to thrive. We are excited to continue to support the community in which we work and live," Hensley emphasized in statements obtained by Durham County's news platform.
A Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) from the State of North Carolina partly facilitates this expansion. The JDIG is estimated to enhance the state’s economy by $5.5 billion over its 12-year term, showing a return of $3.06 in state revenue, for every dollar of potential cost. North Carolina Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the move as a testament to the state's collaborative economic development environment, and coordinated talent pipeline. The local support by the Board of County Commissioners will be further discussed during a board meeting slated for December 2025.
