An Auburn man has been booked on first-degree murder charges after he voluntarily contacted the police to declare that he had slain his wife, Auburn authorities report. KING 5, choosing to refrain from naming suspects before formal charges are brought forth in a court setting, detailed that the 37-year-old individual made the 911 call close to 8 a.m. on Sunday, affirming the alleged homicide.
According to the Auburn Police Department, as reported by the Auburn Reporter, the suspect was taken into custody without incident, an act following his admittance to officers that, in a moment of snapping due to suspicions of infidelity, he warned and then asphyxiated his wife for a period extending to 15 minutes. And the King County Medical Examiner’s office has identified Geety Sadat as the victim, confirming that her demise resulted from manual strangulation; her death has been ruled a homicide.
Further information released by authorities confirms that the couple's three young children were at the home during the time of the death, but they purportedly did not witness the act itself; since then, these minors have been placed under protective custody, as the investigation led by the Auburn Police Department goes forth, according to the KOMO News.
While the suspect awaits further legal proceedings, a high bail has been fixed by the authorities, with reports from KING 5 divulging that the man's bail has been set at $3 million for the investigation of the first-degree murder charge, as the distressing narrative of domestic tragedy continues to unfold in Auburn.
