A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of Tanya Perry, a devoted mother of three and a dedicated Metro bus operator in Eagle Rock, this past Sunday, ABC7 reports. On the evening of the collision, Perry was on a break from her Metro duties and was crossing the street within a marked crosswalk at Colorado Boulevard and the 2 Freeway when the incident occurred, resulting in her untimely death.
The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene near Colorado Boulevard and Eagle Dale Avenue, where, despite attempts at life-saving measures, Perry succumbed to her injuries, CBS News Los Angeles has confirmed. A search for the suspect vehicle and the driver responsible for Perry’s death is ongoing, as grief-stricken family members call for the perpetrator to step forward and shoulder the accountability of their actions.
In a statement obtained by KTLA, Tara Logan, Tanya Perry's sister, expressed the family's devastation, remembering Perry as "a very loving person" who was working diligently not only in her job at Metro but was also establishing a new bakery business named Forever Sweets before the incident. Metro has meanwhile extended its sympathies and is offering grief counseling to Perry’s coworkers to help them cope with the loss.
Perry's daughter, Dana, in a poignant moment, relayed to CBS News Los Angeles, implored the driver to come forward, stating, "I'm not mad at you. Things happen, but take accountability. Take responsibility." The family has also launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral costs, seeking support during this difficult time, with the community already showing an outpouring of support.
